• Write main clauses ! Structure your thoughts and let the reader follow them! If a reader doesn’t understand what you want to say he’s definitely not going to ask! This is not only true for newspaper and magazin articles. University professors don’t like to interpret the meaning of your papers, either. So better learn from the start: easier is better!
• Be careful with repetitions and meaningless words! Every “well”, “nevertheless” and “maybe” should be under review. You are no polititian, so don’t try to speak like one.
• Take your time! Quick proof-reading can be fatal since a lot of mistakes and repititions can go unnoticed.
• Give the text to someone who doesn’t know much about the subject and ask for his or her opinion. This reader will reflect the thougts most readers will have when reading your text when it is published. So listen carefully!
